China Geo University was founded in 1952, formerly known as Beijing Institute of Geology, and was formed by the merger of Geology and Engineering Departments of Peking University, Tsinghua University, Tianjin University and Tangshan Railway Institute. 1960 was identified as a national key university by the central government. Move to Hubei
