The Medical College of Wuhan University of Science and Technology mainly originated from Wuhan Metallurgical Medical College and is a medical college under Wuhan Iron and Steel Company. 1995 merged into Wuhan institute of iron and steel to form Wuhan metallurgical university. Because the merger was at the specialist level, the foundation was far behind Tongji Medical University and Hubei Medical University, and even worse than Yunyang Medical College and Xianning Medical College outside Wuhan. After being merged into Wuhan University of Science and Technology, Wuhan University of Science and Technology did not have its own affiliated hospital.
