South China University of Technology Library was founded in 1952, formerly known as South China University of Technology Library. It is formed by the integration of libraries in five central and southern provinces 12, such as Sun Yat-sen University, Lingnan University, Hunan University and Guangxi University. Since then, the name and collection structure of the library have changed many times with the development of the school until 1988 1. With the school upgraded to South China University of Technology, the library was renamed as South China University of Technology Library. This library is a large library of national key universities of science and engineering; There is a "foreign teaching material center" directly under the Ministry of Education; It has a ministerial-level sci-tech novelty retrieval workstation with novelty retrieval qualification authorized by the Ministry of Education.

The library of South China University of Technology consists of the main library, the south campus library and the branch library of chemical machinery, with a total area of 67 168 square meters. The General Library is located in the east of the main entrance of the North Campus of South China University of Technology, with a building area of 24,000 square meters. There are 12 administrative departments, including curator's office, circulation department, information reference department, office, periodical department, electronic literature information department, interview department, reading department, foreign language teaching material center, cataloging department, system department, painting information center, etc. The South Campus Library is located in Guangzhou University Town, Panyu District, Guangzhou. It was completed and put into use in September 2006, with a construction area of 42,300 square meters. There are five administrative departments, including office, document resources construction department, document resources service department, reference service department and information technology service department. The branch of chemical machinery is located in the teaching building of Industrial Control College of North Campus, with a construction area of 600 square meters, and has two business departments: circulation and reading.
