Yao, 1932, 1986 was born in Shanghai on April 26th. 195/kloc-0 graduated from Shanghai Fudan middle school in July, 1955 graduated from Shanghai jiaotong university in August, and went to Poland to study in the same year. 1Feb. 962, graduated from Gdansk University of Technology, Poland, and was awarded the title of Doctor of Engineering. 1962 resumed work in March.

He put forward a new theoretical method to calculate the fluid loss of cascade and a general theoretical formula to calculate the exciting force of steam turbine blades.

1964, Yao was appointed as the chief designer of the 200MW turbine set 1000mm twisted blade of Harbin Steam Turbine Works by the First Ministry of Machinery Industry.

In 1965, Yao created a new method for drawing long twisted blades and a computer-aided design method for long twisted blades.

1998 was hired by Shandong Provincial People's Government as the president of Shandong University of Technology (hereinafter referred to as Shandong Institute of Technology), a senior scientific and technological consultant of Shandong Province and a senior consultant of Jinan Municipal Government. On July 2 1, after in-depth discussion with Yao, Shandong Science and Technology Commission decided to set up Shandong Clean Energy Engineering Technology Research Center in Shandong University of Technology, and Yao personally took the lead in tackling key national problems such as "biomass rapid pyrolysis technology" and "proton exchange membrane fuel cell technology". On July 5, 1999, the research center was formally established with the approval of the provincial science and technology commission, and a grand unveiling ceremony was held in the school. It is the first clean energy research institution in China.

Yao has worked in the front line for a long time and is a famous technical expert of steam turbine in China. Led scientific and technical personnel to develop 300MW high-power steam turbine and 6MW split-shaft gas turbine unit, won the second prize at provincial and ministerial level twice, and published more than 60 papers.

On September 8th, 2005, seven academicians of China Academy of Engineering, including Yao, and the heads of relevant departments of Zibo gathered together to make suggestions and suggestions for the 11th Five-Year Plan of Zibo's national economic and social development. It is pointed out that it is good for Zibo to strengthen the three dominant industries of chemical industry, medicine and new materials, but it should focus on new materials and run its own characteristics. Only by learning from others' strengths in the development and utilization of new materials, rather than being limited to a certain new material, can we create a "Silicon Valley" of new materials in China. In this way, if national enterprises need new materials, the first thing that comes to mind is Zibo.

On May 3rd, 2006, on behalf of Shandong University of Technology, Yao signed an agreement with the Provincial Economic and Trade Commission on cooperation in science and education to build a strong province. The school has implemented the action plan of building a strong province serving and manufacturing, strengthened the cooperation between schools and colleges, and promoted the integration of Industry-University-Research, which has built a good platform for accelerating the transformation of scientific and technological achievements into real productive forces.

On June 30, 2006, Yao was appointed honorary dean of the School of Mechanical and Power Engineering of Shanghai Jiaotong University. After the appointment ceremony, he gave an academic report entitled "New Methods of Product Design", which mainly introduced the basic content, development direction, application field and research direction of virtual manufacturing technology.

On June 29, 2007, the Ministry of Science and Technology set up an expert advisory committee on scientific research integrity, and Yao became a member.

On July 1 1, 2008, Yao died in Beijing on July 1 1, 2008 at the age of 76. The memorial service was held in Babaoshan, Beijing.
