Erya does not belong to the Four Books and Five Classics. The four books are Great Learning, The Doctrine of the Mean, The Analects of Confucius and Mencius. The five classics are poetry, calligraphy, ceremony, Yi, Yue, Spring and Autumn Period. Erya is the earliest book to explain the meaning of words in China, and it is also a dictionary in ancient China. Erya is also one of the Confucian classics, belonging to the thirteen Confucian classics.
