China University Sports Association (hereinafter referred to as the "Major Sports Association") was established in 1975, joined the International University Sports Federation (hereinafter referred to as "FISU") in the same year, and participated in the 8th World University Games held in Rome, Italy, and has participated in 14 sessions continuously.
Since the establishment of 1975, the Sports Federation has gone through six committees. The first session was from 1975 to 1979, with the then leading comrades of the state sports commission as the chairman and Comrade Zhao Changtai, director of the group department, as the secretary-general; The second session was from 1979 to 1988, with Comrade Gao Yi, then Vice Minister of Education, as the chairman and Comrade Zhu Fengcheng, Secretary General of the Department of Sports and Health, as the secretary general; The third, fourth and fifth sessions are 1988 to 2000. Comrade He Dongchang, then deputy director of the State Education Commission, was re-elected as chairman for three times, and Comrade Song Jinxian, director of the Department of Sports, Health and Arts, served as vice chairman and secretary-general (legal representative); The sixth session is the "Sixth General Assembly and Congress of China University Sports Association" held during the "Sixth National University Games" in 2000, which was elected by the committee. Lu Fuyuan, former Minister of Education, is the chairman, and Yang Liguo, Secretary General of the Joint Secretariat of the Student Sports Association of the Ministry of Education, is the vice chairman and secretary general (legal representative).
From August 2nd to 30th, the 22nd Universiade was held in Daegu, South Korea. The China University Sports Delegation sent a delegation of 336 people to participate in the Universiade and won the first place with 4 1 gold medals. At the same time, Zhang Xinsheng, Vice Minister of Education, represented China at the congress and general election meeting of FISU member countries held in Daegu, South Korea, and was elected as vice chairman of FISU by a high vote. This is the first time that China people have been elected vice-chairman of FISU.
In the past two years, with the efforts of the chairman, vice-chairmen and Committee members, and with the strong support of the education departments (education committees) of all provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities directly under the Central Government and various college students' (student) sports associations, the China College Students' Sports Association has promoted the work of the "big sports association" under the guidance of Theory of Three Represents in accordance with the spirit of the 16th National Congress, and the college students' sports cause in China is developing and growing.
The Major Sports Association has 24 branches: track and field branch, basketball branch, volleyball branch, football branch, table tennis branch, fitness branch, martial arts branch, chess branch, tennis branch, rugby branch, fencing branch, national defense sports branch, swimming branch, badminton branch, handball branch, ice and snow sports branch, orienteering branch, shooting branch, rock climbing branch, bridge branch, bicycle branch and baseball and softball branch.
