On June 28th, 2023, QSQQuacquarelli Symonds, an international higher education research institution, published the 2024QS World University Rankings. Massachusetts Institute of Technology ranked first for 12 years, Cambridge University ranked second in the world, and Oxford University ranked third. This year, QS improved its ranking method to the maximum extent and introduced three new indicators: sustainable development, employment achievement and international research network. Moreover, the weights of some existing indicators have been recalibrated, including academic reputation index, employer reputation index and teacher-student ratio index. The number of universities in China (Mainland China) ranks third in the world, with 7 1 universities on the list, second only to the United States (199) and the United Kingdom (9 1). Peking University ranks 17 in the world and is the second highest institution in Asia. Tsinghua University ranks 25th in the world and the third highest in Asia. The best ranked university in Asia is the National University of Singapore, ranking eighth in the world.
