At present, there are 68 universities in Chongqing, including 26 undergraduate and 42 junior colleges. According to the nature of the school, these 26 institutions can be divided into the following grades.
The first file: 985 University
Chongqing University: a national key university directly under the Ministry of Education, a national key university under the "985 Project" and "2 1 1 Project", and a national "double-class" A university.
The second file: 2 1 1 University
Southwest University: a university directly under the Ministry of Education, a national "2 1 1 engineering" key university and a world-class discipline construction university.
The third file: provincial offices build universities.
Southwest University of Political Science and Law: a university established by the provincial office, and one of the first national key universities.
Chongqing Medical University: a university established by the provincial government and one of the 14 universities in the west supported by the state.
Chongqing University of Posts and Telecommunications: a university jointly established by the Chongqing Municipal Government and the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, and one of the four key universities of posts and telecommunications under state construction.
Chongqing Jiaotong University: a university jointly established by all provinces.
The fourth file: ordinary public undergraduate colleges
Chongqing technology and business university, Chongqing Normal University, Chongqing University of Technology, Sichuan International Studies University, sichuan fine arts institute, Chongqing Institute of Science and Technology, Chongqing University of Arts and Sciences, Yangtze Normal University, Chongqing Three Gorges College, Chongqing Police Officer College and Chongqing Education College.
The fifth file: private, independent undergraduate course colleges and universities
