Training objectives: This major trains engineering talents with high ideological and moral, cultural accomplishment, professionalism and social responsibility, healthy physique and good psychological quality, extensive knowledge and ability in photoelectric information science and engineering, high quality, innovative consciousness and practical ability. Can carry out basic theoretical research in the fields of optical information and optical communication, photoelectric devices and systems, photoelectric detection technology, imaging and display, and engage in design, development, application and management.
Main courses: laser principle and technology, geometric optics and optical design, wave and modern optics, electromagnetic field theory, information optics, optical fiber communication, photoelectric imaging and display.

Every year, about 40% graduates enter famous universities at home and abroad to study for master's degrees, with an average annual employment rate of over 98%. Students are mainly employed in photovoltaic and photoelectric enterprises in the Yangtze River Delta, engaged in product production, research and development, technology and other work, of which the employment rate in Jiangsu Province is close to 50%.
