Guangdong Medical University is a key construction university in Guangdong Province. Founded in 1958, formerly known as Zhanjiang Branch of Sun Yat-sen Medical College. 1964 was upgraded to a five-year medical undergraduate college, and 1992 was renamed Zhanjiang medical college. The school is the first unit in China to grant bachelor's degree rights. Grant 1986 master's degree right and 20 13 doctor's degree right.
As of June 20 17 and 10, the total campus area of the school is nearly 1900 mu, which consists of Zhanjiang campus and Dongguan campus.
