Second, the historical evolution
The University of Western Australia (UWA), founded in 19 1 1, is the first university in the state. In charge of this 12 position are three colleges-Engineering College, Science College and Art College. 100 years later, this university is now home to nine colleges and schools and some research institutions and centers, which celebrated the centenary of the university in 20 13 years. Humble birth
19 13 years, the university opened its doors to 184 students. They visited the buildings with wooden walls and corrugated iron roofs in a temporary location on Irwin Street, which is now the central business district of Perth. The number of buildings in Owen Street is slowly increasing to accommodate more students. A building, which housed the birth of the Western Australian Labor Party, was shipped from Kurgadi, 580 kilometers northeast of Perth. The university is supervised by a university Council composed of 18 members and a vice-president appointed by turns from professors. The Student Association is also established as a part of the University of Western Australia Act 19 1 1, and it is an independent institution. With the outbreak of World War I, people have high hopes for this fledgling university. Many students and staff volunteered for military service, which severely hit the local economy and affected the ability to fund universities. However, with Edward Sydney Simpson (1875–1939) becoming the first student to graduate from UWA University with a bachelor's degree and the first student to receive a doctorate in science in 19 19, important milestones keep happening.
New campus
As soon as the war ended, UWA developed rapidly. Thanks to Sir winthrop Hackett's generous legacy, construction began in 1929 on a piece of land of 5 1 hectare in Crawley, about five kilometers west of Perth. The magnificent Mediterranean-style winthrop Hall and its magnificent bell tower, Hackett Hall and administrative building were completed in 1932. The Gothic St. George's College, the first student dormitory of the university, was also built with the funds of this legacy and was completed in 193 1 year. The relocation from Owen Street to Crawley started at 1925 and was completed at 1932. The buildings in Owen Street have been moved to their present positions, and one of them is still in use today, which houses the Council meeting room, the university archives center and the cricket club hall. With the funds raised by the College Graduates' Council, it was completely restored and reopened on 1988 as a gift for the Council to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the University. Now it is located on the edge of James Oval and is one of many campus landmarks. 1927, Professor whitfield became the first executive vice president. Law became the fourth department of the university in 1927, and by 1930, the number of students registered had exceeded 600.
Dark ages
The Great Depression and World War II (1939- 1945), which began in 1929, once again froze the development of universities. The exception is that agriculture was separated from science in 1936 to form a new college. Through the connection with the newly established Agricultural Research Institute, the Agricultural College will become the location of the research laboratory of the Scientific and Industrial Research Council for many years. Today, the festival has developed into a leader in similar activities in Australia and ranks among the top 50 in the world. During this period, several symbols of student groups were born: the art magazine Pelican and the satirical one-day student newspaper SRUSS-SRUSS, the predecessor of PROSH. With the outbreak of the war, the university became the home of 200 US Navy personnel, who served at the Catalina Flight Base in Crawley.
Post-war recovery
Shortly after World War II, the university began to regain its momentum, with the number of students reaching 1000. From the mid-1950s to the 1960s, the unprecedented growth of enrollment benefited from the economic prosperity and the surge in demand for university education. Encourage the government to support universities, because a well-educated workforce is regarded as one of the keys to industrial development. In order to ensure that higher education is given priority, the federal government has assumed the responsibility of funding all universities. UWA finally got the funds it needed to achieve its long-term goals. The postwar baby boom has also created more and younger people, who enjoy higher living standards and better secondary education. Therefore, more and more young people are not only qualified to enter universities, but also want a degree to improve their chances. The number of students increased to 1956 in 2000, almost doubling to 3,800, including 166 masters and 99 doctors. With the increase of the number of students, the number of teaching staff has also increased sharply, from 9/kloc-0 in 1953 to 247 in 1966. 1956 created another four colleges, bringing the total number to nine. New challenges
Enrolment increased to 10 and 195 in 1975, and began to decrease gradually in 1976, because federal aid and student quotas were cut across Australia. With several other higher education institutions entering Perth in11960s and11970s, UWA is no longer considered as the sole provider of higher education in Western Australia. Therefore, the university's goals and priorities are more specific than in the past. At the same time, it must meet the changing needs of the Western Australian community, which has become more affluent and industrialized. The mining, commercial and financial sectors and the public service sector have also seen significant growth. In the next two decades, the enrollment slowly climbed to 12, 79 1, and then increased rapidly to 2 1, 09 1 in 2009. More than 24,000 students registered in 20 12. 20 12 was a year of great changes in the university, and a new curriculum structure was introduced. The mode of obtaining postgraduate professional qualification after B-way undergraduate study is consistent with that of leading universities around the world, aiming at cultivating all-round graduates and providing a variety of admission opportunities for a wide range of students.
Celebrate our centenary celebration
In 20 13, a series of special events gathered the past and present staff and students of UWA University and the wider community on campus to celebrate the achievements of 100. As part of the celebration, Exploring the Centennial History of the University of Western Australia: Seeking Wisdom, edited by Jenny Gregory, a historian of UWA University, was published.

The beginning of modesty

New campus

In 20 12, more than 24,000 students entered school. 20 12 is a year of great changes in universities, and a new curriculum structure has been introduced.
