National defense orientation has no special requirements for candidates to apply for the exam, except for passing the military inspection. Candidates can apply as long as they are willing.
Candidates who apply for the first-choice national defense and general orientation schools and majors can enjoy the policy of colleges and universities reducing the file transfer line by nearly 20 points at the time of admission. However, some colleges and universities will determine a larger reduction rate according to the different targeted employment units: for example, candidates from Wuhan University who are oriented to Tibet can drop up to 40 points. National defense students can get 5000 yuan scholarship or living expenses and tuition subsidies every year.
However, it should be noted that once the candidates are admitted, they will sign a contract with the school after entering the school, specifying that they must go to the target unit or city for employment and the time of employment.
Although these two oriented students have been taken care of in their scores, they also have to bear the corresponding obligations, that is, they must go to "oriented" units for employment after graduation. General national defense students have to serve in the unit for five years, and ordinary directional students have to work in the directional unit, with working hours ranging from five to eight years, while others are as long as 10 year. For example, students from Wuhan University who work in Tibet should work in Tibet for at least 15 years after graduation.
