New policy of military service for college students
Legal analysis: College graduates can join the army as conscripts or directly recruit non-commissioned officers, but the direct recruitment of non-commissioned officers needs to meet certain conditions: men are unmarried, the age is not over 24 years old, and the majors they study in the university meet the professional needs of the army and obtain a university diploma. Colleges and universities and their majors carry out vocational skills appraisal and obtain intermediate or above qualification certificates issued by the state.

Legal basis: Article 3 of the Military Service Law of People's Republic of China (PRC). People and citizens of China, regardless of nationality, race, occupation, family background, religious belief and education level, have the obligation to perform military service in accordance with the provisions of this Law.

People who are unfit for military service with serious physical defects or serious disabilities are exempted from military service.

People deprived of political rights according to law may not perform military service.
