Xiamen Museum was established in 1983 and officially opened to the public in 1988. In 2007, the new museum moved to Xiamen Culture and Art Center, located at No.95, Tiyu Road, Siming District, Xiamen. It is a local comprehensive museum.
There are nearly 30,000 cultural relics in the collection, and 3,983 cultural relics above Grade III have been identified, among which ancient ceramics, calligraphy and painting, jade, stone carving, folk cultural relics and international friendly gifts are the most distinctive.
2. Xiamen University Anthropology Museum
The Museum of Anthropology of Xiamen University is a famous museum recognized by UNESCO, the only structural anthropology Museum in Chinese mainland, one of the museums under the jurisdiction of the School of Humanities of Xiamen University, and a museum specializing in anthropology, archaeology and ethnology in China.
3. Overseas Chinese Museum
Xiamen Overseas Chinese Museum is a cultural and educational institution with the theme of overseas Chinese history and integrating cultural relics collection, exhibition and academic research. It was founded by Chen Jiageng, a famous overseas Chinese leader, and donated by overseas Chinese and returned overseas Chinese. Officially opened in May, 1959.
