The school was founded on 1958.

It was called Tianmu Forestry College, and was merged with Zhejiang Agricultural College in 1960 to form Zhejiang Agricultural University. It was renamed Zhejiang Forestry College in 1966, merged with Zhejiang Agricultural University in July/970, resumed its independent running in February/979, and was renamed Zhejiang Agriculture and Forestry University in 20 10. As of September, 20021year, the school has three campuses: Donghu, Yijin and Zhuji, covering an area of more than 3,200 mu, with a school building area of more than 900,000 square meters and a total equipment value of 493 million yuan.
