Yuan Sumei, a native of Dongguan, Guangdong Province, has never been to a university and doesn't know what an academician is. She only learned to write five words in her life, but she was awarded an honorary academician by the University of Hong Kong. She didn't do anything earth-shattering, but she cooked and swept the floor for students for 44 years.
