The full name of Hangzhou University Town in Zhejiang Province is Hangzhou Xiasha Higher Education Park. In August 2000, the provincial party committee and government decided to build Hangzhou Xiasha Higher Education Park with an area of 10.9 1 square kilometer. Now it has settled in 15 university with about 200,000 teachers and students, making it the largest higher education park in Zhejiang Province. After five years of construction, Xiasha Higher Education Park has been fully completed and put into use. At present, China Ji Liang University, Zhejiang Sci-Tech University, Hangzhou Dianzi University, Zhejiang Gongshang University, Hangzhou Normal University, Zhejiang University of Finance and Economics, Zhejiang Media College, Zhejiang University of Water Resources and Hydropower, and other 15 universities have 300,000 teachers and students. Relying on Xiasha Higher Education Park, the Development Zone Management Committee is making great efforts to build an integrated platform of Industry-University-Research, a university science park and a pioneer park for overseas students, an interactive development platform of 15 universities and more than 700 modern manufacturing enterprises, vigorously cultivating and developing distinctive knowledge-based economy and technology-intensive industries, and striving to enhance the core competitiveness of the Development Zone.

Xiasha Higher Education Park is divided into two blocks:

West Area: Hangzhou Dianzi University, Zhejiang Sci-Tech University, China Ji Liang University, Hangzhou Vocational and Technical College, Zhejiang Police Officer Vocational College, Zhejiang Media College, Zhejiang Yu Ying Vocational and Technical College.

East Zone: Seven universities have been arranged, including Zhejiang Gongshang University, Hangzhou Normal University, Zhejiang University of Finance and Economics, Zhejiang Finance College, zhejiang economic and trade polytechnic, Zhejiang Economic Vocational and Technical College and Zhejiang Institute of Water Resources and Hydropower.

At present, there are 77 institutions of higher learning in the province, including 2 undergraduate 12, 7 undergraduate 17, 3 junior colleges and 45 higher vocational colleges, including 5 national demonstration higher vocational colleges. Among them, eight universities have obtained doctoral degrees, with 262 doctoral programs and 750 master programs.

Hangzhou has built four higher education parks of Zhejiang University, namely Xiasha, Binjiang, Xiaoheshan and Zijin Port. It has more than 30 universities including Zhejiang University, with 250,000 college students (20,000 graduate students), more than 80 professional research institutions and more than 300,000 professional technicians. In addition, there are more than 30 higher vocational and technical colleges and secondary vocational and technical schools with 200,000 students.
