The largest urban construction project in Wuxi history is about to start! Yesterday, I learned from the press conference of the municipal government's urban rail transit project that with the approval of the State Council, the National Development and Reform Commission has officially approved the recent construction plan of Wuxi's urban rapid rail transit. Since then, the subway project that Wuxi citizens have been waiting for for for a long time has finally changed from a beautiful vision plan on the drawings to a construction sequence.

In recent years, with the sustained and rapid economic and social development and the acceleration of urbanization in our city, the decision-makers in Wuxi city have deeply realized that vigorously developing public transportation and building urban rapid rail transit system are of great significance to the development of Suzhou-Wuxi-Changzhou metropolitan area, realizing urban planning and layout, meeting the needs of urban transportation development, improving urban environment and saving energy. On the other hand, around the accelerated construction of Beijing-Shanghai high-speed railway and Shanghai-Nanjing intercity railway, Wuxi also urgently needs to connect with urban rapid rail transit to realize the seamless connection of various modes of transportation in the metropolitan area.

In fact, as early as 2000, our city began to draw a long-term blueprint for rail transit in the comprehensive transportation planning. In the past eight years, relevant departments of Wuxi have cooperated with first-class experts in the field of rail construction at home and abroad, worked together to tackle key problems, and the planning scheme has been continuously refined, and finally finalized the "Wuxi Urban Rapid Rail Transit Construction Plan" for review. In April 2008, the State Council approved the second batch of urban rapid rail transit construction planning approval, and our city was included in the list of recently approved cities. The good news finally came a few days ago. With the approval of the State Council, the National Development and Reform Commission officially approved the recent construction plan of Wuxi urban rapid rail transit, and Xicheng's eight-year "subway dream" finally came true.

According to the planning of Wuxi urban rail transit network, by 2050, the urban rapid rail transit network of our city will take the main city as the core and consist of five lines of "three main lines and two auxiliary lines", of which 1 line, line 2 and line 3 are skeleton lines, line 3 is radial, and lines 4 and 5 are auxiliary lines. The total length of the planned network is157.77km, with11station. The 1 Line and Line 2 will be built in this approval, with a total length of 5.6 1 1 km and a total investment of 25.454 billion yuan, forming a cross-shaped rail transit network in the north-south direction and the east-west direction, thus alleviating the traffic pressure in the main urban area, especially in the old urban area, and promoting the development and construction of the new urban area.

According to the plan, the 1 line is the north-south traffic backbone line, starting from Yanqiao in the north and reaching Xuelang in the south. The total length of the line is 3 1.6 km (excluding the reserved section), including 8.5 km overhead ground and 22.23 km underground. There are 24 stations on the whole line, and the estimated investment is149.6 billion yuan. The line connects the central city with the important urban areas in the north and south, runs through the most important transportation and commercial development axis of the city, connects Huishan Administrative Center and Wuxi Railway Station in the north, connects the core business circle of Sanyang Square and Taihu New City in the south, and forms a docking with the Shanghai-Nanjing intercity railway in the north square of the railway station.

Line 2 is the east-west traffic backbone, starting from Meiyuan in the west and ending in Anzhen in the east. The total length of the line is 25.38km, including overhead10.5km and underground14.88km.. There are 20 stations on the whole line, with an estimated investment of 654.38+00.494 billion yuan. The line connects the central city with the western region and Dong Xi New Town, and is arranged along the east-west development axis of Wuxi. It starts from the administrative center of Binhu District in the west and ends in Xishan District in the east, connecting Wuxi Station of Beijing-Shanghai high-speed railway in series, and forms a transfer with 1 line at Sanyang Square Station. It mainly undertakes the east-west traffic between the central city and the new district, Lihu New City and the external transportation hub, further improving the function of the central city.

It is worth mentioning that in the planning, relevant departments have intervened in the design control within 500 meters of the track line website in advance. For example, Nanchan Temple Station is located on the north side of the intersection of Jiefang South Road and Zhongshan Road. It is planned to take the rail transit station and Chaoyang Square bus hub as the core and properly solve the ground pedestrian traffic, which will create new landmarks of Zhongshan Road and Jiefang Road with certain municipal and commercial functions. Suxi Road Station is located in the northeast corner of the planned Taihu New Town CBD. It is an important station for rail transit 1 line to serve the core area of new town. It is planned to build a rail transit comprehensive community with high-grade ecological residential areas as the main body and integrating community commerce, shopping, culture and entertainment.

At present, the feasibility study report of rail transit 1 and Line 2 has been compiled, and the construction can be started after the approval of the National Development and Reform Commission. It is expected that the 1 line will be the first to start construction next year, in which Sanyang, Shenglimen and Civic Square will be started in advance before March next year, and the whole line will be officially opened to traffic in 20 1 1, and Line 2 will start construction in 201,and be completed and opened to traffic in 20 15.
