Educational concept of China West Normal University
The educational philosophy of China West Normal University is to cultivate the mind, enlighten education and cultivate education.

West China Normal University, referred to as "West China Normal University", is located in Nanchong City, Sichuan Province. It is a key university in Sichuan Province, the first normal university in Sichuan Province, the first batch of authorized units for bachelor's and master's degrees in China, the first batch of free normal education institutions in Sichuan Province, and the first "Selected Graduates Base for Excellent College Students in Sichuan Province" in Sichuan Province.

The construction unit authorized by doctor's degree in Sichuan Province has been selected into the national "Excellent Agriculture and Forestry Talents Education and Training Plan", "Excellent Journalism and Communication Talents Education and Training Plan", "Double First-class" Construction Plan in Sichuan Province, Excellent Teachers Education and Training Plan in Sichuan Province, Excellent Legal Talents Education and Training Plan in Sichuan Province, and Sichuan 201plan.

The school was founded in 1946, and its birth has a direct historical origin with Northeastern University. In the early days of War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression, Northeastern University moved to Santai County, Sichuan Province. After the victory of the Anti-Japanese War, Northeastern University moved back to Shenyang, and teachers and students from Liuchuan founded the North Sichuan College of Agriculture and Industry at the original site. 1949, Xishan College was absorbed and renamed as North Sichuan University;

1950 merged with North Sichuan College of Literature and moved to Nanchong City, Sichuan Province. 1952 North Sichuan University merged some majors of East Sichuan Institute of Education, Sichuan University and West China University to form Sichuan Normal University. 1956, the school is divided into two parts. The part that stayed in Nanchong was renamed Nanchong Teachers College, 1958 was upgraded to Nanchong Teachers College, and 1989 restored the name of "Sichuan Teachers College". In 2003, it was renamed West China Normal University.
