Founded in 1884, it is a public university located in Philadelphia, USA and recognized by the Ministry of Education of China. According to the latest Carnegie classification of higher education institutions, Temple University ranks among more than 2,700 four-year institutions in the United States and is rated as "the research university with the highest quality of scientific research activities" (only 4% of institutions have won this honor). The school has 17 colleges and 9 campuses. At present, the number of registered students is about 38,000.

Temple University and China have a long history of educational cooperation. 1979, Deng Xiaoping received his only American honorary doctorate from Temple University. It has been more than ten years since Beasley School of Law and Tsinghua University cooperated in the Master of Laws education program.
