Southwest University is a key comprehensive university directly under the Ministry of Education and a national key construction school of "2 1 1" project. The school is located at the foot of Jinyun Mountain, a national scenic spot in Beibei District, Chongqing, by the beautiful Jialing River. Southwest University was founded in July 2005, which was formed by the merger of the former Southwest Normal University and the former Southwest Agricultural University. It turned out that the two schools were built adjacent to each other and of the same origin. Originated from China New School-Chuandong Normal School, which was opened in the southwest of China in the 32nd year of Guangxu in Qing Dynasty (A.D. 1906). After several developments, it has become today's Southwest University.

Southwest University is surrounded by mountains and rivers with picturesque scenery, with a total area of about 64 1.93 hectares (9,629 mu) and a school building area of 1.5794 million square meters.
