He has participated in the fifth Antarctic expedition in China, and has been engaged in the research and teaching of environmental archaeology, Quaternary environmental evolution and geomorphology (periglacial landform and Danxia landform) in the Yangtze River basin for many years. Since 1989, he has been a visiting scholar in Argentine South American Institute of Ice and Snow, Rouen University, Giessen University in Justus von Liebig, Germany, and Kaohsiung Normal University in Taiwan Province. Over the years, he has presided over many projects of the National Natural Science Foundation (including the National Natural Science Foundation 1 major research project) and 2 doctoral programs in colleges and universities.

The main courses taught:

1, Introduction to Global Change Science; 2. Environmental archaeology.

He has published 4 monographs and teaching materials and 96 academic papers (including SCI papers 16 and SCIE papers 5). Won the third prize of scientific and technological progress of the State Education Commission 1995 and the second prize of scientific and technological progress of the State Education Commission 1996. The textbook "Introduction to Global Change Science", edited by him, was selected as a "postgraduate textbook" by the Ministry of Education in 2005. Has supervised 20 doctoral students and 2 master students1person.
