School 1958 was founded in Maanshan Iron and Steel Industry School, and 1978 was upgraded to Maanshan Iron and Steel Institute. It is the only undergraduate college in East China's iron and steel industry. 1985 was renamed East China Metallurgical Institute, which is under the Ministry of Metallurgical Industry.
