Mr. Lu Xun said in On the Pavilion: "Only the national is the world's". How to understand this sentence? Many people easily understand it as "as long as it is national, it is world-wide." There are also some people who take this statement intentionally or unintentionally as a powerful proof of rejecting foreign cultures. "Only the nation is the world" is a logical necessity. In other words, without nations, there would be no world. "As long as it is national, it is worldwide" is logically a sufficient conditional relationship, that is, as long as it is national, it is worldwide. Here, "national" can be understood as "national culture", "world" can be understood as "world culture", and "world culture" is a collective concept composed of cultures of all nationalities in the world, which gives this collective concept a special feature. According to the definition and nature of the set concept, the characteristics of this set concept do not mean that every individual must have it, and some characteristics of a single individual are not always the characteristics of the set concept. For example, the industriousness of the collective concept of "Chinese nation" in the sentence "Chinese nation is an industrious nation" is not necessarily possessed by every individual member of the Chinese nation. Some characteristics of individual members, such as laziness, do not become the characteristics of the Chinese nation. Therefore, saying that "only the national is the world" does not mean that "as long as it is the national, it is the world", and it should not be used as a proof to exclude foreign cultures. This sentence of Mr. Lu Xun can be understood as: we should respect the uniqueness of "national culture" and pay attention to the content presentation and the use of representation or expression of "national culture" in methodology, but both its content presentation and the use of representation or expression should conform to the characteristics of "world culture". If the "world culture" is endowed with the characteristics of "truth, goodness and beauty", the content presentation and the use of representation or expression of "national culture" cannot deviate from it. For the relationship between "country" and "world", please refer to Professor Huang Yushun's speech at the first "World Civilization Dialogue Forum" held by the Center for World Civilization Dialogue of Shandong University on September 29th, June 20th. Professor Huang Yushun believes that the greatest learning of China's ruling and opposition parties is modernization. Although China's modernization has its national historical and cultural characteristics, it must also conform to the basic value orientation of modernity. Professor Huang Yushun pointed out that "modernity" and "modernization" are not a concept. Modernity is unitary, which is the inevitable and natural requirement of the modern lifestyle of human society. The modernization model is diversified. In other words, it is a fact that modernity does show many different faces of modernization mode in different nation-states and different historical and cultural traditions. Looking at the whole western first-Mover countries and comparing their modernization models, there are indeed great differences. China's modernization model must have its own characteristics, which is also the diversified expression of modernization model, which is closely related to China's Confucian cultural tradition; But in any case, modernity always has its basic universality, namely monism. Professor Huang Yushun put forward the viewpoint of "national expression of modernity appeal": on the one hand, China's future model must be the "national expression" of China people, which is related to China's historical and cultural traditions, especially Confucian cultural traditions; On the other hand, China's future development model is "pursuing modernity" after all, which must conform to the basic indicators of modern civilization. For example, fairness, democracy, rule of law and so on, these basic indicators have been incorporated into the "core values". Professor Huang Yushun also pointed out the emergence of the concept of modernity, whose social foundation is the prosperity of cities and the rise of citizens' lifestyles. (The content of Professor Huang Yushun's speech is extracted from Huang Yushun: Confucianism should be kind to Christianity-the present situation and future of Confucianism and Christianity in China) Informatization and artificial intelligence are the current and future trends of social modernization. This development trend will promote the emergence of the matching concept of modernity, promote the development of people's thinking and thoughts, and lead to changes in social ideology and customs. Only by keeping pace with the times, renewing ideas and constantly practicing and innovating can we catch up with the development of the times. Respecting and utilizing national traditions is not a resistance to the development trend of world civilization, but a driving force! Only by interacting with other national cultures and learning from each other's strengths can we avoid being closed, big and arrogant, and enrich, expand and develop our national culture. It is often said that "the more national, the more cosmopolitan", which is very emotional, but not very rigorous in logic. This sentence is generally about the uniqueness of the nation and the universality of the world. The logic of this sentence is "the more unique, the more common". But in fact, not all unique things are universal, only unique things that conform to universality are universal. So, on the contrary, it makes sense to say that "the more the world, the more nationalities there are". Only when the uniqueness of a nation conforms to the universality of the world will the value of uniqueness become more apparent. References:
