1, Southeast University, referred to as "Dongda University" for short, is a research-oriented national key university located in Nanjing. It is organized as a vice-ministerial level directly under the central government, and is a national "double-class", "985 Project" and "21Project" key construction university.
2. Southeast University was founded in 1902 as Sanjiang Normal School, followed by Liangjiang Normal School and Nanjing Higher Normal School. National Southeast University was founded in 192 1, and was renamed as National Central University after several times.
3. During the period of1952, the departments of colleges and universities were adjusted, and the departments of arts and sciences moved out, with the former School of Engineering of Central University as the main body, and successively merged into relevant departments of Fudan University, Jiaotong University, Zhejiang University and Jinling University.
4. Nanjing Institute of Technology was established in the original site of National Central University, and the name of Southeast University was restored in 1988. In 2000, it merged with the former Nanjing Railway Medical College, Nanjing Jiaotong University and Nanjing Geological School to form a new Southeast University.
5. As of March 2023, the school has four campuses, including Sipailou, Jiulong Lake and Dingjiaqiao, with a total area of 5,888 mu. There are 34 departments and 87 undergraduate majors.
6. There are 39 first-class doctoral programs and 50 first-class master programs; 12 disciplines were selected in the second round of "double-first-class" construction disciplines list, and 5 disciplines got A+ in the fourth round of discipline evaluation.
7. There are 384 full-time students19, including undergraduate students 16785, graduate students/265438 and international students 1994. There are 3300 full-time teachers.
