A brief introduction to the strength of the Chinese University of Hong Kong
Founded in 1963, The Chinese University of Hong Kong is the second established university in Hong Kong and one of the eight higher education institutions in Hong Kong funded by the University Grants Committee of Hong Kong. Cuhk consists of Xinya College (established in 1949), Chongji College (established in 195 1) and United College (established in 1956), and later Shaw College was established in 1986. It is the only university in Hong Kong that implements college federalism. As the leading institution of higher learning in Hong Kong and even Asia and the main position of contemporary Neo-Confucianism, CUHK has gathered a large number of academic masters such as Qian Mu, Tang Junyi, Mou Zongsan, Lin Yutang, Lao Si Guang, Liu Zhenhua, Tsung i Jao, Yu Guangzhong, Yang Zhenning and Gao Kun, and trained outstanding talents from all walks of life represented by historian Yu Yingshi, mathematician Qiu Chengtong and banker Zheng Haiquan.
The Chinese University of Hong Kong currently has eight faculties: Faculty of Arts, Faculty of Business Administration, Faculty of Education, Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Science, Faculty of Social Sciences and Faculty of Law. There are 63 departments in eight colleges, and the total number of students is 18006 (data comes from statistics on June 30, 2006), including 9732 full-time undergraduates, 7965 graduate students and 309 other part-time students.
The school provides many informal educational opportunities, which complement the formal courses, aiming at cultivating students' interpersonal skills, cultural taste, self-confidence and sense of responsibility. Students can also make full use of scholarships and financial aid projects to develop their personal growth potential.

CityU has excellent teachers from all over the world, covering Hong Kong, North America, South America, Europe, Asia, Africa and Australia. City University has established a close and extensive cooperation network with international academic circles, and signed student and scholar exchange agreements with more than 100 famous universities in 28 countries or regions. City University uses English as the teaching language, and some departments also provide Chinese as an auxiliary teaching language. In the QS ranking of Asian universities in 20 15, Chengda ranked 9th in Asia and 4th in HKU.
