The Historical Evolution of Shanghai TV University
1960 In March, under the leadership of the Shanghai Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China, with East China Normal University as the main body, Fudan University, East China Institute of Chemical Technology, Municipal Education Bureau, Communist Youth League Committee, Shanghai People's Broadcasting Station and other units cooperated closely, Shanghai TV University was established. Chang Xiping, Party Secretary and Vice President of East China Normal University, served as Vice President, Su, Vice President of Fudan University, Zhang Jiangshu, Dean of East China Institute of Chemical Technology, Vice Chairman of the Municipal Federation of Trade Unions and Ma, Deputy Director of the Municipal Education Bureau, served as Vice Presidents. On April 6th, Shanghai TV University held the opening ceremony in Shanghai TV Station.

1February, 979, in order to strengthen the leadership of RTVU, Yang Kai, deputy director of the Municipal Revolutionary Committee, concurrently served as the president of Shanghai RTVU, Hang Wei, director of the Municipal Education Bureau, Zheng Yingnian, director of the Municipal Radio and Television Bureau, Zhang Weiqiang, vice chairman of the Municipal Federation of Trade Unions, Han Zhongyue, deputy director of the Municipal Higher Education Bureau, concurrently served as the vice president, and Lu Wencai served as the full-time vice president.

1981June, with the approval of the municipal people's government, Shanghai Radio and TV University became one of the first seven universities in Shanghai to pilot the self-study examination for higher education. In June 165438+ 10 of the same year, the Shanghai Higher Education Self-taught Examination Committee issued the "Implementation Opinions on the Interim Measures for Shanghai Higher Education Self-taught Examination", which also pointed out: "The self-taught viewing examinations for basic courses and specialized courses (according to the college degree) of mechanical and electronic courses organized by Shanghai TV University are also self-taught."

1February, 1993, on the occasion of the opening of Shanghai TV University15th anniversary, Wu Bangguo, member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee from China and secretary of Shanghai Municipal Committee, and Su, vice chairman of Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference wrote an inscription for the school. Wu Bangguo's inscription reads: "Modern cities need modern education." In 2000, on the 40th anniversary of Shanghai TV University, Huang Ju, member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and secretary of the Shanghai Municipal Party Committee, sent a congratulatory letter, and Minister of Education Chen Zhili, Mayor Xu of Shanghai, Director of the Municipal People's Congress Chen Tiedi, Deputy Secretary of the Municipal Party Committee, Vice Minister of Education, and Vice Chairman of CPPCC personally wrote words of encouragement.

1In May, 1995, with the approval of higher authorities, Shanghai TV University and Australian Columbia College jointly established "Shanghai TV University Sydney Branch". This is the only overseas branch of Shanghai TV University. Wang Guangying, former vice chairman of the National People's Congress, praised: "This is a pioneering work in the history of education between China and Australia." Shanghai TV University Sydney is now the Sydney Training Center of Shanghai Distance Education Group and Shanghai TV University, and has become an important base for overseas training of Shanghai Distance Education Group and Shanghai TV University.

On July 24th, 20 13, Shanghai Radio and TV University officially changed its name to Shanghai Open University, offering undergraduate majors, granting students bachelor's degrees, and hosting Shanghai Lifelong Education Credit Bank. The top three undergraduate majors in Shanghai Open University are urban public safety management (food safety direction and community safety direction), mechanical and electronic engineering and software engineering (information service direction).
