The College of Liberal Arts includes literature, history and pedagogy, and five first-class disciplines, namely, China language and literature, history, art, journalism and communication, and pedagogy. History and China language and literature are both authorized by the first-level discipline of doctoral degree, and history has a postdoctoral research station. The College of Liberal Arts has 14 doctoral degree authorization points, 15 master degree authorization points and 12 undergraduate majors. Since 1996, teachers in the whole school have undertaken 27 projects of the national social science fund, 45 projects of the Ministry of Education, 47 projects of the province and 148 other projects. In 2000, with the approval of People's Republic of China (PRC) and the Ministry of Education, the major of sports journalism was established, which was the first time to set up a major of sports journalism in a comprehensive university.
