In the process of changing from teaching to teaching and scientific research, the School of Information closely relies on the academic advantages of the school in the marine field, actively integrates resources inside and outside the school, and forms a characteristic research system with expert system as the core, with marine information detection and processing technology, marine disaster prevention decision-making assistance technology and marine numerical simulation calculation technology as the research direction, focusing on digital ocean and digital fishery.

The college has modern teaching and research facilities, and the professional experiment center has software comprehensive teaching laboratory, computer network and information security teaching laboratory, marine information and decision support system laboratory, embedded system and information processing laboratory, and computer composition principle teaching laboratory.

In the past two years, the National Development and Reform Commission has completed the project of "Capacity Building for Disaster Prevention and Mitigation" and the construction of "Digital Ocean" Shanghai Demonstration Zone, and successfully applied for the marine industry special project "Research on Key Technologies of Storm Surge Disaster Assistant Decision-making and Assessment in Lingang New Town" and "Demonstration Application of Bohai Marine Environmental Information Integration and Dynamic Management Technology". He has presided over or undertaken a series of major projects, including four national 863 major projects of the Ministry of Science and Technology, research and development of agricultural modernization information technology, two national eleventh five-year science and technology support projects, a major project of Shanghai Science and Technology Commission, research on key technologies of urban storm surge disaster decision-making based on 3S, and a national 908 special project, Zhejiang sea area use management business network and decision-making system construction.

The marine information discipline of the College won the first batch of "085" knowledge innovation projects of Shanghai Education Commission, which will be a key milestone in the development of the discipline of the College of Information.
