Dalian University of Technology is the first new-type ordinary university founded by China Production Party on the eve of the founding of New China for the construction of new China industrial system. Dalian University of Technology is a national key university directly under the Ministry of Education, a national "2 1 1 Project" and "985 Project" key construction university, and a world-class university.
2. Dalian Maritime University
Dalian Maritime University (formerly Dalian Maritime College) is a national key university directly under the Ministry of Transport, a national "2 1 1 project" key construction university, a national "double-class" construction university, and a university jointly established by the Ministry of Transport, the Ministry of Education, the State Oceanic Administration, the State Bureau of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense, the Liaoning Provincial People's Government and the Dalian Municipal People's Government.
3. Dalian Jiaotong University
Dalian Jiaotong University is the only institution of higher learning in Northeast China that features rail transit. 1956, the school was founded in response to the development needs of China's railway locomotive and rolling stock industry. At that time, it was Dalian Locomotive and Rolling Stock Manufacturing School. 1958 was upgraded to Dalian Railway Institute, formerly managed by the Ministry of Railways. In February 2000, it was handed over to the Liaoning provincial government for management.

5. Dalian International Studies University
Dalian International Studies University is located in Dalian, Liaoning Province. It is a provincial university in Liaoning Province and the only public foreign language university in Northeast China. The school was founded in 1964 under the kind care of Premier Zhou Enlai, and later renamed Dalian Japanese College, 1970 renamed Liaoning Foreign Studies College, 1974 offered undergraduate education, and 1978 renamed Dalian Foreign Studies University.
