Chengdu University of Technology is a provincial-level key university jointly established by the Ministry of Education and Sichuan Province, and it is the first batch of "double-class" universities in China. The school has two campuses, Chengdu and Yibin, covering an area of 3,887 mu, with a building area of 1 447,000 square meters. The campus is a beautiful garden for study and research, with trees and flowers.

In 2022, the school entered the second round of "double first-class" construction of colleges and universities, and geological resources and geological engineering entered the second round of "double first-class" construction disciplines. Four disciplines (earth science, engineering, environmental science/ecology, chemistry) entered the top of ESI global ranking 1%.
