About Suzhou
Suzhou is located in the southeast of Jiangsu Province, in the middle of the Yangtze River Delta, bordering Shanghai in the east, Zhejiang in the south, Taihu Lake in the west and the Yangtze River in the north. The whole city is low-lying, with many rivers and lakes. Most of the water surface of Taihu Lake is in Suzhou, with a subtropical monsoon maritime climate, four distinct seasons and abundant rainfall.
Suzhou City was founded on Saturday (5 14 BC) with a history of more than 2,500 years. Basically, the double chessboard pattern of "land and water are parallel and rivers and streets are adjacent" has been maintained. It is one of the first batch of 24 famous historical and cultural cities in China with its unique features of "small bridges, flowing water, pink tiles and historical gardens", and has the reputation of "there is a paradise above and Suzhou and Hangzhou below".
Representatives of private gardens in China-Suzhou Classical Garden and Suzhou Section of China Grand Canal are listed as World Cultural Heritage by UNESCO, and most scenic spots in Taihu Lake are located in Suzhou.
