The postgraduate education of China West Normal University started at 1979, and it is the second batch of master's degree awarding units in China. In 2003, it was approved as the third batch of national and the second batch of pilot units for graduate students with master's degree in education in Sichuan Province. Our school has 17 first-class disciplines authorized by master's degrees, covering eight disciplines: literature, law, history, teaching, science, engineering, management and economics.

At the same time, it has 8 master's degree authorization categories, including master of education, master of agriculture, master of public administration, master of physical education, master of engineering, master of journalism and communication, master of law and master of art, 9 disciplines jointly train doctoral students, and 1 postdoctoral innovation practice base.

The school has 3 provincial high-level social science research teams and 2 provincial youth science and technology innovation teams; "Ecology and Ecological Governance Discipline Field" and "Political Science and Social Governance Discipline Group" are included in the first-level discipline construction in Sichuan Province; Nine two disciplines are provincial key disciplines (including 1 provincial key disciplines).
