East China Normal University, referred to as "East China Normal University" for short, was founded in June of19510, and was transferred from Daxia University (1924) and Guanghua University (1925) to St. John's University and Fudan University.

1972 merged with Shanghai Normal University, Shanghai Institute of Physical Education and other institutions and changed its name to Shanghai Normal University. 1980 Restore the name of East China Normal University. 1997- 1998, Shanghai Preschool Teachers College, Shanghai Education College and Shanghai Second Education College merged successively.

There are 174 people (including outstanding young scholars in Zijiang and young scholars in Zijiang) selected for the "Double Hundred Talents Program". The main campuses of the school are Minhang Campus (Address: No.500 Dongchuan Road, Shanghai) and Zhongshan North Road Campus (Address: No.3663 Zhongshan North Road, Shanghai), with a total area of about 207 hectares.
