Southwest University, located in Beibei District of Chongqing, is a national key university directly under the Ministry of Education of People's Republic of China (PRC) and established by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of Chongqing. It ranks among the member universities of the national "double first-class", "21engineering", "985 engineering advantage discipline innovation platform" and "double first-class" agricultural alliance.
Selected in "11/plan", "201/plan", "Hundred Schools Project", outstanding agricultural and forestry talents education and training plan, outstanding teachers training plan, national college students' innovation and experiment plan, national college students' innovation and entrepreneurship training plan and national high-level university public postgraduate plan. ?
The school can be traced back to East Sichuan Normal School as early as 1906, and 1936 was renamed Sichuan Institute of Education. 1950, Sichuan Institute of Education merged with the National Women's Teachers College to form Southwest Normal College, and the departments of agriculture, horticulture and agricultural products manufacturing merged with the private Xianghui College founded by 1946 to form Southwest Agricultural College.
