The Hong Kong Polytechnic University is one of the oldest universities in Hong Kong. It can be traced back to the Hong Kong Government Advanced Institute of Science and Technology, which was established in 1937. It is the first government-funded institution in Hong Kong to provide engineering education. 1947 changed its name to Hong Kong Polytechnic; The Hong Kong Polytechnic was established in1972; 1994, Hong Kong law "Hong Kong Polytechnic University Ordinance" came into effect, and the school was renamed as Hong Kong Polytechnic University. On March 5, 2020, the Hong Kong Polytechnic University (Foshan) project was included in the preparatory project plan for key construction in Guangdong Province.
