Jinan University is the first overseas Chinese university founded by the state in China, and currently has the largest number of overseas students in China. It is a national key comprehensive university under the leadership of the State Council Overseas Chinese Affairs Office under the "2 1 1 Project". The word "Jin 'an" comes from the article "Shangshu Gong Yu": "The east is gradually in the sea, the west is in quicksand, and the south is combined, and the sound teaches the world." It means facing South Asia and spreading Chinese culture. The school's predecessor was Jinan School, which was founded by the Qing government in Nanjing on 1906. Later, it moved to Shanghai, and 1927 was renamed as National Jinan University. During his stay in War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression, he moved to Jianyang, Fujian. 1946 moved back to Shanghai. 1949 merged into Fudan University, Jiaotong University and other universities in August. 1958 Reconstruction in Guangzhou. Qian Weichang, former vice chairman of Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and academician of China Academy of Sciences, served as the chairman and honorary president of the sixth board of directors of the school; Professor Hu Jun, doctoral supervisor and leader of the national key discipline of industrial economics, is the principal.

Jinan University, known as "the highest institution for overseas Chinese", abides by the motto of "loyalty and forgiveness" and pays attention to cultivating talents with the excellent traditional moral culture of the Chinese nation. The school actively implements the policy of "facing overseas, facing Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan". * * Since its establishment, it has trained more than 200,000 talents for five continents 128 countries and three regions of Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan, making it a peach and plum in the world.

1In June, 1996, Jinan University became a national key university facing the 2 1 century. In 2007, the school was rated as excellent in the evaluation of undergraduate teaching level organized by the Ministry of Education. In 2008, the third phase of "2 1 1 project" was officially launched. Eight projects in our school, such as finance and capital market, industrial economy and regional development, comparative literature and art and overseas Chinese literature, overseas Chinese and Sino-foreign relations, aquatic ecology and algae biological resources, biotechnology and bioengineering drugs, nonlinear mechanical problems of major engineering structures, modernization of traditional Chinese medicine and integration of traditional Chinese and western medicine, have been identified as national key discipline construction projects.
