Tibet University is a comprehensive university affiliated to Xizang Autonomous Region and a key university under the national "2 1 1 project". The history of running a school can be traced back to19511Tibetan cadre training class, and it has gone through the development stages of Tibet military region cadre school, Tibet local cadre school and Tibet administrative cadre school. 1965 and 1975, in order to meet the needs of millions of emancipated serfs to learn culture and build a new Tibet, the school went through the development stages of Tibet Normal School and Tibet Normal College, creating a precedent for normal education in Tibet. In order to meet the needs of rapid economic and social development in Tibet, with the approval of the Ministry of Education, the school was officially renamed Tibet University from June 65438 to July 0985. Since 1999, Xizang Autonomous Region Art School, Tibet Medical College, Medical Department of Tibet University for Nationalities and Xizang Autonomous Region College of Finance and Economics have successively merged into Tibet University, and entered a new stage of establishing a comprehensive university with regional ethnic characteristics.
The school has four campuses: Jinna Campus, Hebalin Campus, Norbulingka Medical College Campus and Norbulingka College of Finance and Economics Campus, with a total area of 1.400 mu and a construction area of 428,300 square meters. Education City Campus is under planning and construction. At present, there are 15 colleges (departments) such as College of Arts, College of Science, College of Engineering, Medical College, College of Art, school of economics and management, College of Tourism and Foreign Languages, College of Politics and Law, College of Education, College of Finance and Economics, College of Information Science and Technology, College of Marxism, Tibet Branch of the Open University of China, College of Continuing Education, and International Exchange and Cooperation Office (Foreign Students Department). The total value of teaching and research instruments and equipment is 523 million yuan, the total collection of books is 132 1000, and there are more than 505,000 kinds of electronic books. The campus network has achieved full coverage and is the main node of CERNET in Tibet. In the first half of 20 19, the IPv6 campus network was first built in the region.
