"Ideological and Moral Cultivation and Legal Basis" is a compulsory ideological and political theory course for undergraduates, which integrates ideological, political, scientific, theoretical and practical aspects.

Based on the socialist core values, the course aims at the ideological and moral and legal problems faced by college students in the process of growing up, and carries out the education of Marxist world outlook, outlook on life, values, morality and rule of law, so as to guide students to seek truth in learning and thinking, realize life in experience and action, and improve their ideological and moral quality and legal literacy.

After the textbook Ideological and Moral Cultivation and Legal Basis was published in 2006, in order to fully reflect Socialism with Chinese characteristics's theoretical achievements and practical experience, the research group revised the textbook in July 2007, June 2008, May 2009, 20 10 and early 20 18 respectively.

From May to July, 20 13, in order to promote the spirit of the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China into textbooks, classrooms and minds, reflect the innovative achievements of Socialism with Chinese characteristics's theory and practice since the last revision, and reflect the new progress of ideological and political education, a research group organized by Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China and the Ministry of Education revised the textbooks again on the basis of extensive investigation. The Advisory Committee on Marxist Theoretical Research and Construction Engineering deliberated and guided the revised textbook.
