Encyclopedia often records that Fudan is the first independent institution of higher learning in China, but this is actually false. The earliest institutions of higher learning founded by China people were Beiyang College, namely Tianjin University founded by Sheng Xuanhuai, Minister of Westernization in the late Qing Dynasty, in Tianjin on 1896, and Nanyang College established in Shanghai a few months later, namely Shanghai Jiaotong University.
I don't know why, but the title "The first China was founded by myself" has not been corrected.
