The school has developed from a single medical category to a coordinated development of medicine, engineering, management, science, economics, literature and teaching. The doctoral and master's degree authorization point has fully covered all two disciplines under the three first-level disciplines of traditional Chinese medicine, integrated traditional Chinese and western medicine and traditional Chinese medicine. In 2002, the school became one of the first units in China to carry out the pilot work of non-medical undergraduates studying for doctor's degree in traditional Chinese medicine.
