The dean of the department plays an important role in the university, and is responsible for leading and managing the teaching, scientific research and administrative affairs of the department. The responsibilities of the department head include making teaching plans, organizing scientific research activities, managing the teaching staff and coordinating the internal and external relations of the department. These tasks require high organizational and coordination skills and management skills.

The head of the department also needs to bear certain administrative and decision-making responsibilities, and take the leadership responsibility for the teaching, scientific research and management affairs of the department.
