Gu Chaohao (1926-20 12), a native of Lucheng, Wenzhou, is a famous mathematician in China. Professor of Fudan University, Academician of China Academy of Sciences. 1948 graduated from the Mathematics Department of Zhejiang University and stayed as a teacher. 1953 has been teaching at Fudan university. He has served as Professor, Dean and Vice President of Mathematics Department of Fudan University, President of China University of Science and Technology, Vice President of Chinese Mathematical Society and Chairman of Shanghai Mathematical Society. 1980 was elected as a member of the Department of Mathematical Physics of China Academy of Sciences (1994 was renamed as an academician).

At present, he is the deputy chairman of the Shanghai Committee of the Democratic Progressive Party, the chairman of the Fudan University Committee of the Democratic Progressive Party, the member of the Shanghai CPPCC, the dean of the School of Mathematical Sciences of Fudan University, and the director of the Key Laboratory of Nonlinear Mathematical Models and Methods of the Ministry of Education.
