Translation major (four-year undergraduate)
Translation major began to recruit students in 2007. This major aims at cultivating English senior interpreters, translators and multilingual translators. Relying on the teaching and scientific research strength of English subject and drawing lessons from the experience of running translation major at home and abroad, the translation major has a high starting point and strong teachers, and has trained a group of high-quality undergraduate graduates.
Training objectives: Translation majors train translators from Gaogang, multilingual translators and cross-cultural exchange talents with solid professional foundation, skilled professional skills, perfect knowledge structure, broad international vision, good humanistic quality and deep humanistic feelings.

Employment direction of graduates: Translation major has a broad international vision, profound humanistic feelings, a solid English-Chinese bilingual foundation and good cross-cultural communication skills, and graduates are well received by employers. The employment rate and quality of the first batch of 55 translation graduates have both reached a record high, and the main destinations are: state ministries (such as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs), the world's top 500 foreign-funded enterprises, Chinese and foreign financial institutions, international consulting institutions, international accounting firms, international advertising companies, large state-owned enterprises, publishing units and universities. In addition, about 30% of students continue to study for master's degrees in interpretation and translation in domestic universities, especially in the School of Advanced Translation of our school. About 25% of the students successfully applied for further study in famous universities in Britain and America, majoring in interpretation and translation, business, etc., in order to become high-end English translators and cross-cultural exchange talents. Among them, 32% of the first batch of graduates from the experimental class of international civil servants applied to Columbia University, Monterey Institute of International Studies, University of Bath, Paris Business School and other universities to pursue master's degrees in translation, business and international relations.
International civil servant talent experimental class
According to its own advantages and characteristics, our school actively explores the training mode of international innovative talents, and established the international civil servant experimental class in 2007. Students in the experimental class of international civil servants can enjoy the high-quality teaching resources of the English Institute. The course "Second Foreign Language and International Civil Servant" is taught by powerful teachers from other departments in Shanghai and abroad. The school has made great efforts to tap various resources, won internship opportunities in international organizations for students in the international civil service experimental class, hired senior simultaneous interpreters and professors from the United Nations and the European Union, and offered English-Spanish translation and English-French translation and interpretation courses for students in the international civil service class.
The international civil servant talent experimental class integrates foreign advantages and strives to cultivate multilingual senior professionals who can adapt to the needs of globalization, master at least two foreign languages as working languages, and engage in foreign affairs, diplomacy, foreign trade and economic cooperation in political, economic and cultural fields.
