The unnamed lake, the largest artificial lake in Peking University campus, is located in the north-central part of the campus. The shape is u-shaped. There is a stone fish sculpture in Hunan, and there is an island in the middle of the lake, which is connected with the north bank by a bridge. There is a stone boat at the southern end of the central island of the lake. There are Bell Tower, Linhuxuan, Flower Bed and edgar snow on the lakeside, and Boya Tower on the east coast. It is one of the landmark landscapes of Peking University.
The unnamed lake was named by Qian Mu, a professor in yenching university, when he was teaching in yenching university in 1930s.
Extended data:
The unsinkable Zhou Shi, commonly known as "no boat", lies quietly on the east side of the island in the middle of the unnamed lake, feeling the joys and sorrows in the hearts of generations of Peking University people, and also witnessing the development of this vicissitudes book spring garden.
1860, the British and French allied forces burned Yuanmingyuan, and Shuchun Garden also suffered. The stone boat was burned to the bottom. Today, when we look back on the unnamed lake scenery and stone boats in those days, we can only learn a little from the descriptions of the predecessors and the subsequent repairs. There are four poems engraved on the stone screen on the north bank of the Weiming Lake: "Draw a boat flat and wide, and fly from the building to overlook Liu Yin.
All around the mirror, the breeze hangs in the center of Hong Ying boundary water. Although Shiping was moved from the nearby Yuanming Wilderness Garden, these four poems were not written for the unnamed lake and the stone boat. However, Shuchunyuan itself was built in imitation of Yuanmingyuan, and it is not bad to sum up the past lakes and mountains.
We can only see the shadow of old Zhou Shi from the banquet boat of Kunming Lake in the Summer Palace. This two-story villa decorated with tiles and stained glass was built when Empress Dowager Cixi rebuilt the Summer Palace.
