The Yangcheng Lake Campus of Soochow University was formerly the Shanghai Railway Bureau Staff School founded by 1954 in February, and was renamed Suzhou Railway Driver School in August 1962. 1983 10 month, renamed Suzhou Railway Machinery School, which has been under the management of the Ministry of Railways for a long time. In April 2004, the school system was placed under the management of Jiangsu Provincial Department of Education by Shanghai Railway Bureau of Ministry of Railways. In May of the same year, with the approval of Jiangsu Provincial Department of Education, the school was renamed Suzhou Electromechanical Higher Vocational and Technical School. In August 2007, it merged with Nanjing Railway Vocational and Technical College to establish Suzhou Campus of Nanjing Railway Vocational and Technical College. 20 12 February, with the approval of Jiangsu Provincial People's Government, Suzhou Campus of Nanjing Railway Vocational and Technical College was merged into Suzhou University, and Yangcheng Lake Campus of Suzhou University was established. Over the past 50 years, the school has sent nearly 30,000 talents for railway transportation production and local economic construction, and made positive contributions to national railway enterprises, urban rail transit and local economic development.

The campus covers an area of nearly 900 mu, with a planned total construction area of 245,000 square meters and a school scale of nearly 8,000 people. There are 340 faculty members in the campus, 66 with associate senior titles or above, full-time teachers 196, and 85% are "double-qualified" teachers.

There are 6 departments 1 department in the campus, namely, urban rail transit department, department of mechanical engineering, automatic control department, electronic information engineering department, business administration department, construction equipment engineering department and basic teaching department. The campus attaches great importance to the optimization and integration of professional resources and has six major professional groups. The campus has established close cooperative relations with railway bureaus, leading urban rail transit enterprises and many local large enterprises, and has more than 60 stable and close off-campus training bases. There are National Vocational Skills Appraisal Institute, Jiangsu Computer and Foreign Language Proficiency Examination Authorized Training and Examination Institution, and National CAD Examination and Training Center Training Station in the campus. It has five training centers, including modern machining, air conditioning and refrigeration, building intelligence, electrical automation and modern logistics. There are more than 50 experimental training rooms, such as diesel engine comprehensive test bed, locomotive simulation, electric locomotive, air-conditioned bus and numerical control, among which "energy-saving air conditioning and refrigeration training base" is a national training base and "numerical control technology training base" is a provincial training base. The campus graphic information center has a building area of 22,000 square meters and a collection of more than 300,000 books. It can provide a variety of database retrieval and network information services, and is equipped with 2,200 reading and self-study seats. The campus has also been awarded the "Digital Demonstration Base" university in Jiangsu Province.
