The secondary schools attached to Southwest University, referred to as the secondary schools attached to Xida University, Xishi Normal University and Xifu, were originally the second women's normal school in Sichuan Province established by 19 14, and later renamed as the secondary schools attached to National Women's Normal College, Southwest Normal University and Southwest University. At present, it is one of the seven key middle schools directly under the Chongqing Municipal Education Commission.

Starting from 20 15, seven key middle schools directly under the Municipal Education Commission closed junior high schools one after another, leaving only senior high schools. However, No.8 Middle School and Affiliated Middle School still kept their own junior high school parts.

The characteristic major of Southwest University is normal education, which represents the highest level of normal major in Chongqing. As an important base for running schools, Xifu teachers are always in the leading position.
