The Huxi Campus of Tongji University is a school jointly established by the National 2 1 1 Project and the 985 Project. Tongji University Huxi Campus is located at No.500, Zhennan Road, Putuo District, Shanghai. The school implements the management mode and operation mechanism of "compartmentalization is the main and compartmentalization is combined" on campus.

Huxi campus covers an area of 405.9 mu, with a total area of 233,600 square meters. There are more than 30 permanent units including Tongji University Medical College, Network and Continuing Education College, Huxi Campus Management Committee Office, Huxi Campus Security Office, Huxi Campus Logistics Office, Huxi Campus Energy Office, Huxi Campus Assets Office, Tongji University National University Science Park Huxi Park, Shanghai Tianyou Hospital, etc.

Huxi Campus was originally Shanghai Railway University. 1995 In May, Shanghai Railway Institute and Shanghai Railway Medical College merged to form Shanghai Railway University, and its headquarters was located in the former Shanghai Railway Institute. In April 2000, Tongji University and Shanghai Railway University merged to form a new Tongji University, and the former Shanghai Railway University became the Huxi Campus of Tongji University. In July 2000, the Management Committee of Huxi Campus was established, and in August, the Working Committee of Tongji University Shanghai Campus was established.
