Professor Zhang Wenqing from Sun Yat-sen University.
At present, the main research directions are biological control of pests, insect resources and their utilization. In recent five years, he has presided over more than ten national or provincial scientific research projects. Biological control of rice pests has been systematically studied for a long time. 200 1 published the monograph "Community Reconstruction and Biological Control of Rice Pests", and related papers were published in Chemical Ecology and other publications. The concept of reconstruction of arthropod community in short-term crop habitat was put forward for the first time, and the achievements of biological control of rice pests in Dasha Town, Sihui City, Guangdong Province in recent 30 years were summarized, and the theory was promoted as one of the theoretical bases for protecting and utilizing natural enemies. This achievement can greatly reduce the amount of chemical pesticides and promote the sustainable development of agriculture, which has important application prospects in green food production. In the aspect of using parasitic wasps to control pests, many high-quality papers have been published in international journals such as biological control and journal of applied entomology. Important progress has been made in the utilization of insect gene resources. Cloning and expression of insect antimicrobial peptide gene, and using the expressed product of antimicrobial peptide for aquatic disease control and food preservation. To study a new way to interfere with insect chitin synthase and control its harm from the perspective of pest growth and development. More than 40 academic papers have been published in recent 5 years (8 included in SCI). In 2002, he was awarded the 3rd Young Science and Technology Award by China Science and Technology Development Foundation of China Entomology Society.

Graduate students study zoology, food safety biology, agricultural insects and pest control.
