The Historical Evolution of Zhejiang Normal University
1956, Hangzhou Normal University was born in Xizi Lake, Hangzhou. This is the first institution of higher learning in Zhejiang Province that has grown from scratch without any schools since the founding of New China. 1June, 958, Zhejiang Provincial Party Committee and Provincial People's Committee decided to upgrade Hangzhou Normal College to Normal College (name to be determined). Later, it was decided to name it "Jinhua Teachers College" and move to Jinhua, a city in central Zhejiang. Select Yantaishan and Maolishan Huangtu in the north suburb of Jinhua, south of Gaocun, north of Luojiatang Village (including Luojiatang Village) and east of Jinhua No.2 Middle School as the campus (that is, the current campus of Zhejiang Normal University). In addition, the preparatory engineering office of Jinhua Normal University, with Jinhua Commissioner's Office as the main body, was established, and the land acquisition procedures were quickly completed and the engineering scheme was formulated. The first phase of Jinhua Teachers College was funded by provincial direct investment, and ground was broken at the end of 1958.

1959 10 At the end of the year, the Zhejiang Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial People's Committee officially decided to name the school "Hangzhou Normal University". Although the school was named "Hangzhou Normal University", the staff sent to participate in the preparation of the engineering department did not withdraw. From 65438 to 0959, the college also sent teachers and students to Jinhua to participate in voluntary labor, and even invested 50 thousand yuan to buy school furniture. It was not until March1960 13 that the five comrades who set up the engineering office in Jinhua of Hangzhou Normal University quit the school. 1in April, 1960, Jiande Teachers College moved to Jinhua to build the first-phase school building (1completed in February, 1959), and was converted into Jinhua Teachers College in July of that year. August 30th 1962 With the approval of the State Council, Hangzhou Normal University, Zhejiang Institute of Education and Zhejiang Institute of Physical Education were merged and renamed as Zhejiang Normal University. 1963 Zhang Zongxiang, a famous sinologist, calligrapher and director of Zhejiang Museum, wrote the school card for the school.

On the eve of the "Cultural Revolution" in the mid-1960s, Zhejiang Normal University began to step into turmoil. One day in late May, 1965, Jiang Hua, First Secretary of Zhejiang Provincial Party Committee, Standing Committee of Zhejiang Provincial Party Committee and Minister of Propaganda Department met with Ji, Deputy Secretary, Vice President and Director of the Office of the College, and verbally conveyed the decision of the Provincial Party Committee on the relocation of the College to the rural campus in the northern suburbs of Jinhua, on the grounds that it was prepared for evacuation. As soon as the news came out, the teachers and students in the hospital were at a loss. At the same time of many meetings and studies, school leaders came to Jin successively. On June 8, the Party Committee of our school made a report on the school relocation to the Provincial Department of Education and the Propaganda Department of the Provincial Party Committee, and pointed out realistically: "It is very difficult for the whole hospital to move to Jinhua at one time, mainly because there are not enough teaching rooms and the living rooms are very different (the total area of Jinhua campus is only 23,487 square meters). If you move out at one time, not only will students be unable to attend classes, but many teachers will not live in dormitories. " At the beginning of August, the provincial party Committee made a new concrete decision: the Department of Physical Education and the Department of Foreign Languages were merged into Hangzhou University; The teaching and research section stayed in Hangzhou and was changed to the teaching and research section of the provincial education department (later converted into the current Zhejiang Institute of Education); Chinese, mathematics and physics moved to Jinhua with the school.

The school relocation will begin soon. From the end of July to the end of August, it took only about one month to quickly complete the task of packaging, transporting and disassembling more than 900 tons of books, instruments, school furniture and other materials, and it was safe and sound. At the same time, the preliminary renovation and layout of the teaching and living room of Jinhua school building were completed, which ensured that the school started as scheduled in early September. After moving south to Jinhua, Zhejiang Normal University was reduced to three departments and three majors, the number of students dropped from 1.084 to more than 730, the number of teaching staff dropped from 536 to 32 1 person, and the school building area dropped to 24,000 square meters. The school didn't 1958 upgrade to Hangzhou Normal University.

1August, 965, committee of cpc zhejiang provincial committee pointed out: "After the school moved to Jinhua, it tried to be a part-time (agricultural) part-time normal college, and its task was to train the first generation of part-time (agricultural) middle school teachers as well as full-time middle school teachers." On August 2 1 day, before the relocation task was completely completed, the school submitted to the Propaganda Department of the Provincial Party Committee the "Request for Instructions on Several Issues after Our School Changed to Work-study Program (Agriculture) and Work-study Program" (and submitted to the Secretariat), explaining the specific measures for work-study program (Agriculture) and work-study program.

With the support of leaders at the prefecture, county and district levels in Jinhua City, the school started to solve the problem of labor base while conducting investigation and research, and finally invested 6.5438+0 million yuan to build a farm of Zhejiang Normal University in Longpingshuitang, Yangmei, Jiangtang. Soon, the first-year teachers and students of the Chinese department went to the farm to work part-time. During the winter vacation, the Agricultural Technology School of Zhejiang Normal University was established as an attached middle school, enrolling 50 students. At the same time, 66 students were organized to practice in agricultural middle schools in several nearby counties. Soon after the "Cultural Revolution" began, the farm land was handed over to the army, and the agricultural high school was closed with the cancellation of the school farm at the end of 1967.

1970 On July 27th, Zhejiang Province issued the Decision on Adjusting Colleges and Universities. There is only one sentence about Zhejiang Normal University: "The personnel and equipment of Zhejiang Normal University are allocated by the province to Jinhua, Lishui and Taizhou." Zhejiang Normal University was divided into three parts, on which the Teachers College was established (without the approval of the Ministry of Education). Until June 4th, 1974, the State Council Science and Education Group officially issued the Notice on Agreeing to Rebuild Zhejiang Normal University, informing the faculty and staff who had been dispersed to Jinhua, Lishui and Taizhou to decide whether to return to school according to their own wishes.
